Taiga


Taiga Area
The taiga ranges in area from North America,to Europe, and then to Asia.

Precipitation and Climate
The average temperature in the taiga is 32° and gets about 40 inches of precipitation yearly. In the summer the average temperature is about 50° and gets in between 10-20 inches of precipitation. In the winter the average temperature is 26˚ and gets 20-40 inches of precipitation.

Balsam Fir
The balsam fir has a wide base and a narrow top that ends in a slander. 40 to 80 feet tall.
Eastern Red Cedar
The wood of the eastern cedar is very durable. 10 to 50 feet tall.

The Eastern Red Cedar
The Red Cedar is a small evergreen that grows up to 10-50 feet tall. The Red Cedar grows in a pyramid shape. It’s a juniper type of tree and not a cedar. It’s a slow growing tree and grows to be very old.

Animals
Adaption’s to environment
Coyote
It’s very adaptable to its environment. It is 28 to 38 inches tall. 11 and a half to 2 feet long. It weighs 25 to 33 pounds.
Bobcat
A bobcat screams, hisses, and spits at its enemies. The bobcat's length is 2 to 3 feet long. It weighs 10 to 40 pounds.

Bobcat
The bobcat’s body is two feet long. Bobcat comes from a stubby tail. Bobcat has 2 color changes each year. The bobcats head is small and ears are large. Bobcats are like house cats. They prefer grass and brush lands. They eat rodents and rabbits so they are carnivores

Coyote
The coyote once lived on the prairies coyote is not as powerful as the wolf. They are carnivores because they eat insects, small mammals, and deer. 100,000 are killed each year.

The eagle owl has keen eyesight and grows from 26 to 28 inches tall.
Wolverine
The wolverine is extremely strong and it grows from 2 to 3 feet tall.

The Wolerine is a carnivore.Their jaws are very strong it can eat frozen meat and bone.

European Pond Turtle
Their shell pattern acts like camouflage when it is swimming. It is about six inches long from the tip of its tail to its head.
European Wild Rabbit
The Wild Rabbit has sharp teeth and lives in a deep underground borrows. It is about seventeen inches tall at its head.

Adaption’s to Environment
Silver Fir
It has hardened branches that helps protect it against predators. This adaption helps keep birds from stripping its bark to use in their nests. It can grow up to forty feet tall.
Hemlock
The hemlock can grow from 20 to 60 feet tall. Its needles grow in a feather type that helps hide birds from their predators.
Norwegian Spruce
The spruce can grow from 20 to 60 feet tall. It also grows in a pyramid shape towards the top to prevent being blown over.

Threats
Some thearts for the taiga are that the forests are disappering. Some people will argue that the humans need the forest's wood, but because of us, the taiga's animals are losing their habitat. The taiga is also prone to wildfires. These fires can be started many different ways, like lightning, and carless campers who forget to put out their fires. When campimg in the taiga please remember to put out your fires.
